Cluster Balm - Instamatic
This album was originally released commercially on Blue Water Records in 2005, and is now available on Emergent World for free enjoyment. Jason, Darrell and Scott all hope that you find this music as fulfilling to listen to as it was to make.
Nearly two years after the release of their debut album 1.0, Cluster Balm unveiled their sophomore effort, entitled Instamatic. Reflecting the increasing seamlessness of the work of these three musicians, Instamatic delivers nearly 80 minutes of mature ambient listening.
As with all of Cluster Balm's work, the music hovers near dark ambient territory, with the occasional splash of pure light for contrast, and combines innovative sound design with a unique orthogonal view of musicality. The sounds range from the lush and delightful strains of Red Vinyl to the darker but still musical Young Hyson and Root, all the way to the powerful pure-dark imagery of Giving Thanks.
The artists describe their music as 'painting with sound', and indeed the album represents a collection of snapshots of various places and feelings and activities; hence the title. Cluster Balm set their sights high with Instamatic, and according to the group, 'achieved all they set out to achieve'.

Unlike MP3, which throws away some of the audio data in order to achieve high compression, FLAC is a lossless format that is identical in quality to the original audio signal.
